How Mukesh works
The person comes first. A capacity assessment can feel frightening, especially to someone who suspects their independence is at stake. Mukesh explains the purpose of the visit, listens, and gives people the time they need.
Their own language, their own space. Assessments are available in English, Hindi, Punjabi, Urdu and Nepali, and can take place at home or in a care setting. This matters a great deal for older adults in South Asian families, who are too often assessed through a relative or in a language they did not grow up with.
Independent and honest. A report must reflect what the assessment shows, including when a person can still make their own decisions. That is what makes it useful to families, lawyers and the court.
Clear next steps. You will know what the result means and what usually comes next. Mukesh does not give legal advice, and will tell you when it is time to speak with a lawyer or the Office of the Public Guardian and Trustee.
